Bella's Birth Story Part 2

Friday morning came around pretty quickly. My new nurse, Teresa came in at about 7 a.m. and said to me "We are going to have a baby today!" She was so awesome. She checked my cervix and I was dilated to 7 cm. Teresa told me that my doctor would be in to break my water sometime that morning. They started my pitocin to get my contractions working overtime so that we could indeed "have a baby today" At about 9 a.m. my doctor came in to check me and break my water. In that 2 hours I had dilated 2 cm..so I was at 9cm and he broke my water.

Nurse Teresa checked me 30 minutes later and I was dilated to 10cm!! She firmly announced "It's time to push!" She "kicked" all of the rest of my family out of the room leaving Noah, my mom, and my mother in law.

At around 10:30 a.m., with my loving husband on my left side holding my leg and my mom on my right side holding my leg and my mother in law behind my husband handing me my cup of ice chips between each set of pushes, I started to PUSH!

I pushed for about an hour and a half. Nurse Teresa then called for my doctor to come in. We continued to push until he could get there. About 15 minutes after calling for him, the nurse at the nurse's station called my nurse and asked if she could come to the nurse's station. We were in the middle of pushing so my nurse very firmly said "ummm no!" and then that same nurse came in my room and asked my nurse to come to the door (behind the curtain). I could hear them talking but wasn't sure what was being said. Nurse Teresa then came back to me and said "Dr. D is in an emergency c-section, he wants me to stop your pitocin and to have you stop pushing."

My initial reaction...WHAT?!? I asked if another doctor could deliver her. My nurse said that my doctor would probably be mad if we had another doctor come in and that he would not be long.

Not being able to push was the most pain I have ever felt in my life! It was worse than the initial labor pains and contractions I had the day before.

20 minutes later, Dr. D walks in and scrubs in. The nurses get the room ready, they put my legs up and 8 pushes later...She was born!

Isabella Grace Beach was born at 12:28 p.m. on Friday July 30, 2010.
